Shabnim Ismail of Mumbai Indians women's team dismantled the Gujarat Giants batting lineup with an exhilarating display of sensational seam bowling. She dismissed Giants skipper Beth Mooney to end the opposition's final hope on the crease.

As Mumbai Indians Women stepped out to bowl first against the Gujarat Giants, Shabnim Ismail, with her extraordinary skill set, stepped up on the occasion to strike the Giants with major early blows.

She dismissed Veda Krishnamurthy and Harleen Deol in the powerplay with two beautiful angling in seam deliveries.

Just as Gujarat Giants captain Ben Mooney began to pick up the pieces, MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur smartly introduced Ismail back into the attack to diminish the opposition's last hope.

In the 11th over of the first inning, Ismail deceived Mooney with a slower delivery down the leg stump line. The Giants skipper attempted a premeditated scoop shot but didn't expect a slower ball and was left in two minds. 

But since she had already taken the position, Beth Mooney went for the shot but ended up getting a faint outside edge, which went straight to wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia, who completed a regulation catch successfully by diving to her right.

The dismissal of Mooney marked Ismail's third wicket of the match, further highlighting her skill and effectiveness as a bowler in the MI lineup. With her ability to bowl deceptive deliveries and pick up crucial wickets, Ismail had emerged as a potent weapon for MI, posing a constant threat to the opposition's batting lineup.

On the flip side, the Gujarat Giants lost half their side with a mere 58 runs on the board. It was a nightmare start to their season opener in the WPL 2024 season. The Giants simply didn't have an antidote to MI's menacing bowling skills. Still, if they manage to get a decent total, the Giants can make a game out of it.
