Fi Morris romped through the Birmingham Phoenix batting line-up in match number 10 of Women’s The Hundred 2023 season. The Manchester Originals’ spinner picked up five wickets in her 16-ball spell, all while conceding just seven runs from her end.

Morris’ spell, coupled with teammate Sophie Ecclestone’s four-fer, dismantled the Phoenix line-up for just 87 upfront.

Through the course of her destructive spell, the 29-year-old cricketer achieved an all-time The Hundred record across tournament’s both events, men and women.

Fi Morris registers best bowling figures from The Hundred

Fi Morris, making her debut for Manchester Originals this Women’s The Hundred 2023 season, trapped Phoenix’ middle-order batters Amy Jones and Abigail Freeborn in front of stumps. The off-spinner later returned to polish off the Phoenix tail, as their first innings response upon batting first was restricted to a mere 87.

Notably, Ferris’ bowling figures of 5-7 are now the best bowling figures registered across both competitions of The Hundred, men and women. She eclipsed Originals’ men’s pacer Josh Little, who claimed 5-13 during a 2022 game against Oval Invincibles.

Moreover, it is also the first-ever five-wicket haul recorded in the Women’s tournament.

In the meantime, Manchester Originals catered themselves to an easy win over Phoenix. After two washouts, the win also marked their first of the season as they jump among the top three sides on the points table.

Ferris will now turn up for the Originals in their subsequent clash, the one where they will face the Oval Invincibles at The Oval on August 9.
