Swashbuckling Australian opener David Warner had a great start to his IPL 2024 campaign, as he set the tone for a formidable score for Delhi Capitals in their ongoing clash against Punjab Kings. Opening the batting alongside Mitchell Marsh, Warner batted with a belligerent strike rate, helping DC capitalise on the powerplay field restrictions. 

Although Warner struck several boundaries, his incredible lap shot against Kagiso Rabada got the DC fans roaring in Punjab's den. 

The incident occurred in the fifth over of the Capitals innings when PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan brought Rabada to bowl the second over of his spell. 

After conceding only a single off his first three deliveries, the South African speedster erred his line, as Warner smashed him for a boundary. The Aussie legend followed it up with a monstrous six, leaving Rabada shell-shocked. 

It was a length ball from Rabada, with Warner shuffling towards the off side and dispatching it over the fine leg fence for a six. 

After DC lost the well-set Mitchell Marsh, experienced West Indies batter Shai Hope joined the middle to steady the ship alongside Warner. As of writing, the Capitals have raced to 74 for one in 7.5 overs, with Warner and Hope batting on 29* and 17*, respectively.
