Explosive Australian batter David Warner committed a fielding blunder this evening, as he dropped a sitter to give Phil Salt a lifeline.

The incident occurred during the fifth over of Delhi Capitals' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders when the hosts were searching for an opening breakthrough.

After starting his over with a dot ball, Nortje bowled a short ball to Salt, who pulled it nonchalantly in the air towards the square leg. However, David Warner, fielding near the boundary, dropped a regulation catch, letting down the Capitals big time.

Although Warner dived forward for the catch, the ball popped out of his hands as soon as he completed his jump. It was unusual to see from someone like Warner, who is often hailed for his excellence in the field.

However, the swashbuckling English opener couldn't capitalise on the missed opportunity, with Nortje dismissing him on the following delivery. Salt, who hammered a glorious fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad, thus failed to live up to the expectations in this all-important game.

Nevertheless, the Knight Riders have got off to a stupendous start, courtesy of Sunil Narine's fireworks. As of writing, they were comfortably placed at 122 for one in 8.5 overs, with Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi batting on 67* and 27*, respectively.
