Coming into his final Test series, South Africa's Dean Elgar thrashed India in the Centurion encounter, scoring a match-winning 185. However, Elgar could not have a fairytale ending to his Test career as the batter batted twice on Day 1 of the ongoing Cape Town contest and finished his time as an opener with scores of 4 and 12, respectively.

Former India captain Virat Kohli, who is known for his aggressive nature on the field and indulged in friendly banter with Elgar in the middle while batting, displayed his big-heartedness after the South African great played his final knock.

Mukesh Kumar claimed the wicket of Elgar in the second innings, where the ball ended in Kohli's hands, who took a simple catch at slips.

While Kumar celebrated, Kohli urged the crowd present at Newlands to bow down to Elgar as the 36-year-old walked backed into the South African dressing room. Kohli also ended up congratulating Elgar for his services to international cricket with a warm hug after all other Indian players applauded the latter.

Elgar between 2012 and 2024 has featured in 86 Tests and eight ODIs for South Africa, amassing 5,451 with 14 centuries and 23 fifties combined.

Day 2 of the second Test will resume with South Africa still trailing India by 36 runs, and will have Aiden Markram (36*) and David Bedingham (7*) in the middle.
