The 2022 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy began on Tuesday (October 11). A total of 18 matches were slated to be played, but three of them were washed due to rain. Here's a brief report on the top performers and match results on Day 1 of the tournament. 


Top Performers of Day 1:

Devdutt Padikkal: The talented southpaw slammed an unbeaten 124 off 62 balls to help Karnataka win by 99 runs against Maharashtra. 

Venkatesh Iyer: The batting all-rounder was sensational with the contribution of 62* and figures of 6/20, which sealed a 38-run victory for Madhya Pradesh over Rajasthan. 

Prithvi Shaw: The in-form opening batter hit 55* off 34 balls to seal an easy win for Mumbai over Mizoram. 

Ravi Kiran: He finished with impressive figures of 3/26 in four overs, which paved the way for Chhattisgarh to prevail against defending champions Tamil Nadu by six runs. 

Akash Madhwal: Uttarakhand skipper was terrific to take four wickets and concede only 25 runs to aid the team to start on a winning note against Railways.

Mizoram vs Mumbai: Mumbai won by 9 wickets

Delhi vs Manipur: Delhi won by 71 runs

Tripura vs Goa: Goa won by 5 wickets
