Steve Smith has breached yet another milestone in ODI cricket, during the match against India in Rajkot. The former Aussie skipper has notched up 5,000 runs in ODI cricket, and has become the 17th Australian cricketer to do so.

Smith is the fourth quickest for Australia to reach this landmark (129 innings).

Having made his ODI debut in 2010, Smith started on a slow note, but eventually picked up the pace post 2013. He became an integral part of the Australian setup which won the World Cup in 2015, and slammed a scintillating century in the semi-finals against India.

Known for his ability to pierce the gap with perfection, Smith has accumulated 5,004 runs in 145 ODI matches, with an average of 44.28. Moreover, he has also slammed 12 hundreds in the format.

Talking about the ongoing match between India and Australia, the visitors elected to bat first after winning the toss. David Warner continued his dream run against the Indian side and brought up his third fifty of the series.

He was eventually dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, which brought Smith to the crease. With a flat track on offer, Smith has started on an aggressive note, and is batting on 30 off 28 at the time of writing.
