The first Eliminator of the SA20 2024 will be played between Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings on Wednesday, February 7, at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

Paarl Royals 

Paarl Royals had an outstanding start to their tournament campaign, as they were on a winning streak, but as the playoffs approached, their overall form dipped, resulting in them consecutively losing their last four matches in the league stages. 

Although their bowling department appeared reliable, their batting lineup, despite having star players, seemed out of sorts in the recent matches. In one recent game, they were bundled out for only 83 runs. 

After seeming destined for the top spot, the Royals ended the league stage in third place on the points table, finding themselves in a do-or-die situation; a loss in this match would spell elimination from the tournament. 

Joburg Super Kings 

On the other hand, Joburg Super Kings are the only team in the tournament to punch their ticket to the playoffs this season, thanks to a stroke of luck and some favourable weather. Two rain-affected matches worked in their favour. 

Of the eight league stage matches they competed in, they could only notch up three victories. Both their batting and bowling setups have seemed imbalanced on paper throughout the tournament. 

But amidst their rough patch, there's a glimmer of hope with their captain, Faf Du Plessis, finding his form again. He looked sharp in their last game against the Durban Super Giants, and now the team aims to build on that momentum and clinch this crucial win.
