Rinku Singh made an excellent return to first-class duties for Uttar Pradesh via the first-round Ranji Trophy fixture as the swashbuckling left-hander hammered a knock of 92 against Kerala on Saturday (January 6).

The valiant Indian limited-overs specialist staked a claim even in the Test squad with a brilliant comeback to the country's premier domestic first-class competition at the Sanatana Dharma College Ground in Alappuzha.

Rinku, who boasts of a magnificent record in competitive red-ball cricket, retained his prolific ways for UP in their very first game of the Ranji 2023-24 season and nearly produced what would've been a special hundred, his first return to first-class cricket after making an impressive international debut.

The extravagant left-hander had underlined his talent and promise with a fantastic end-overs blitz in the T20I series versus Australia and South Africa in November-December before he also made his ODI debut for India during the trip to the rainbow nation.

Rinku's Terrific Comeback To Ranji Trophy

Indian fans would've also noticed the 26-year-old playing one of the substitutes during the Test series, who were asked to do fielding duties amidst injury concerns by the team management for the Boxing Day Test in Centurion.

Rinku was then released by the team on time to rejoin the Uttar Pradesh squad ahead of the Ranji season, which is a massive one in the context of the aspiring cricketer's journey as he wishes to now become an all-format player for the nation.

The elegant player made a fantastic comeback to first-class cricket by hammering 92 runs off 136 deliveries, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. The innings was a critical one for UP as their valiant No. 6 helped them overcome a tricky post at 124/5 to eventually reach a competitive total of 302 on a helpful surface for the bowlers.

Indian fans who have only known Rinku for his IPL and T20I exploits wouldn't believe it, but the talented batter averages a tremendous 57.82 in first-class cricket after 42 matches with seven centuries and 19 half-centuries.
