The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise attained a significant IPL record when Virat Kohli bashed a huge six off KKR spinner Sunil Narine in match number 10 of the IPL 2024 season.

Kohli’s full-blooded swat off Narine not only marked his second six of the game, but also helped RCB complete 1,500 maximums in their IPL journey, thus making them the second ever franchise to reach the landmark figure within the tournament’s hallowed arena, alongside Mumbai Indians.

RCB becomes second IPL team to 1,500 sixes

After being put to bat first at Bengaluru, RCB firebrand opener and senior man Virat Kohli raced to a blazing half-century to give his side a huge impetus at the top of the order. By the time of reaching 50*, the cricketer had already launched KKR bowlers for three maximums, including one off Sunil Narine during the eighth over of the innings.

Through Virat Kohli’s scathing attack over Narine, the RCB franchise listed its 1,500th six in IPL, thus becoming the second team to reach this illustrious milestone.

In terms of overall sixes across IPL as well as CLT20 matches, only Mumbai Indians leads the RCB franchise in terms of most maximums with 1,575 hits to their name.

Among RCB’s leading six-hitters, Virat Kohli and ‘Hall of Famers’ AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle have made the biggest contributions, each of them amassing over 200 sixes each for the franchise.

Meanwhile, apart from Virat Kohli, the likes of Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis also clobbered a few in their respective innings against KKR as RCB consolidated their batting stance in their second home game of the IPL 2024 season.
