Prithvi Shaw, fresh from his record-shattering 244 in Northampton, has slammed another century this One-Day Cup 2023 season for Northamptonshire. Chasing a mere 199 to win against Durham, the opener still found time to smear an unbeaten 125 from just 76 deliveries.

As has been a norm for the cricketer since last week, Shaw slapped 15 boundaries and seven huge sixes in his entertaining knock, which also marked the ninth List A ton of his career.

Shaw shoots himself to ODI contention ahead of WC with another ton

Prithvi Shaw, who played the last of his six ODI matches for India back in July 2021, continues to bang selection doors ahead of the Cricket World Cup in India.

The 23-year-old whacked a record-breaking 244 against Somerset on August 9 in Northampton. Four days after his career-best List A performance, he scored 125* off just 76 deliveries for Northamptonshire in a modest run-chase against Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Notably, Shaw has not featured in any international outfit for India since team’s 2021 tour of Sri Lanka.

While he already holds a formidable List A record with the bat, the opener seems to be enhancing his figures in the format off late. Shaw’s twin centuries in successive innings on tough English wickets has shot him back into reckoning for a potential return to international cricket.

With an ODI World Cup just around the corner, the youngster might well get his name registered on an expanded squad list as one of the backup openers.

Shaw will now turn up for Northamptonshire in their subsequent assignment against Worcestershire on August 16. The match will be played out at Northampton, their home ground.
