Shreyanka Patil, the 21-year-old sensation, got rewarded with an elusive India cap on Wednesday (December 6) ahead of their first T20I against England, taking place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Alongside her, Saika Ishaque, who made headlines for Mumbai Indians in the previous edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), will be playing her first game as well.

Meanwhile, India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl first. After that, the 34-year-old confirmed the inclusion of two of the most promising players who announced their arrivals lately. For England, captain Heather Knight confirmed they are going to a full-strength side, with Sophie Ecclestone and Alice Capsey being the biggest threats to the opposition.

IND-W vs EN-W Captains’ Thoughts

Harmanpreet Kaur

"We’re going to bowl first. We want to put pressure on their batters because it’s the first game, and sometimes it’s very difficult to know what a good score is. Also, our team is very confident in chasing. Shreyanka and Saika are playing their first games today. We just want to continue playing good cricket in Mumbai."

Heather Knight

“We would’ve bowled first too. We had a couple of days to acclimatize. We’re looking to build on the things we’ve done in the past year. We did really well in the English summer earlier, and showed a lot of intent. I'm hoping for a big crowd today and hoping to do well.”

This will be a three-match series, with all of them set to take place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
