In a dazzling display of power-hitting, England's star batter Harry Brook, finally lived up to his massive price tag in the Indian Premier League 2023, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a resounding 23-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday at Eden Gardens.

Brook's blistering century paved the way for his team's second successive win of the tournament, after having lost the first two games.

The Englishman's remarkable innings featured three sixes and an impressive 12 boundaries off the 55 deliveries he faced, leaving an indelible mark for his team for the first time this season and helping them post a formidable total of 228/4.

Following the comprehensive victory, Brook opened up about his incredible knock, revealing that while many consider opening the batting in a T20 match to be the best time to bat, he is comfortable batting in any position. The explosive batter also expressed his delight in performing in front of the enthusiastic crowd.

“Was a special night. Thankfully we got over the line as well. Got a little tense in the middle. A lot of people say that opening the batting in T20 is the best time to bat. I'm happy to bat anywhere. I've had a lot of success batting at five. Made my name there. My four Test hundreds will have to be over this one. The crowd was phenomenal tonight. I enjoyed it. I was putting pressure on myself a little bit,”

The swashbuckling batter went on to share his satisfaction in silencing his detractors, stating how he was pleased to prove his critics wrong and shut them up with his outstanding performance.

“You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. There's a lot of Indian fans out there who'll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up to be honest."

With Brook's game-changing innings, SRH now find themselves in a much more promising position in the IPL 2023, with renewed hopes of claiming the coveted title.
