In a remarkable turn of events, veteran seamer Paul van Meekeren has set the record for the most number of wickets for the Netherlands in T20Is. He achieved this phenomenal feat during the Netherlands' ongoing Super 12 opener against Bangladesh at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. 

Meekeren scalped two wickets to go past former captain Pieter Seelaar and script his name in history.

• Paul van Meekeren- 59 wickets in 52 innings
• Pieter Seelar - 58 wickets in 64 innings
• Ahsan Malik - 44 wickets in 29 innings
• Mudassar Bukhari - 43 wickets in 35 innings
• Tim van der Gugten - 42 wickets in 41 innings

Meekeren provided the Dutch with a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Soumya Sarkar and breaking the opening stand of 43 runs. 

Then, the right-arm pacer castled Bangladesh's famed finisher Yasir Ali for three to ensure an underwhelming finish for the Tigers. He finished with exceptional bowling figures of two for 21, as Bangladesh crawled their way to 144 in 20 overs. 

As of writing, the Dutch are five for two in two overs.
