David Warner's stay at the crease was finally ended by Josh Tongue thanks to a peach of delivery from the right-handed seamer during the afternoon session of the opening day of the ongoing Lord's Test.

Tongue, who had knocked over Usman Khawaja before the Lunch interval with a peach of an inswinger, produced yet another nut to send the half-centurion packing at 88-ball 66.

Tongue had Warner in a tangle with a series of nip-backers that cut him into the half leading to the dismissal.

He eventually hit the timber when he got one to seam off the deck and destroy the leg stump of the swashbuckling southpaw.

The dismissal would have given a lot of relief to the Ben Stokes-led unit, and especially to Ollie Pope, who had dropped Warner at 4th slip when the opener was on 20.

Warner took his chances throughout the knock, and stroked 8 fours and a six to keep the scorecard ticking in tough batting conditions at Lord's. He brought up his 1st 50+ score of the summer, but just as it looked as if he was warming up to a rare Test ton in the UK, Tongue sent him packing with an absolute nut

At the time of writing, Australia had moved on to 142/2, with Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne in the middle.
