Pakistan team has secured full control of their ongoing second Test match against hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo. After dismantling the hosts for just 166 on Day 1, the visitors mounted a huge lead in response over the subsequent two days of the second Test match.

Amidst Pakistan’s complete demolition work over Sri Lanka, captain Babar Azam lost his wicket to Prabath Jayasuriya for the third successive time this series. The senior batter has now succumbed to Jayasuriya’s spin six times in Tests, even though the two have encountered each other in just seven innings so far.

Pakistan batting legend Babar Azam averages a staggering 54 against Sri Lanka in Tests. However, the same average drops to a mere 28.7 when he is facing island nation’s inexperienced spinner Prabath Jayasuriya alone.

In the ongoing two-match series in Sri Lanka, Jayasuriya trapped “bunny” Azam in each of Pakistan’s first three innings. Overall, the Pakistan captain has lost his wicket to his Sri Lankan nemesis six times in just seven innings they have went up against each other.

Babar registered scores of just 13 and 24 in his side’s four-wicket win over the hosts in Galle. In the first innings in Colombo, the right-hander scored 39 before he was dismissed against the run of play on Day 3.

Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique, meanwhile, cracked a scintillating double century as he alone outscored the entirety of Sri Lanka’s first-innings effort.
