The Big Bash League 13 reaches its business end with every match carrying its own value. Match 38 of the ongoing edition will see Melbourne Stars square off against Hobart Hurricanes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne. The game is slated to begin at 1:45 PM IST. 

The Stars were peaking well after a series of losses in the initial phase of the mega-event. However, their last couple of games did not bear the result they would've liked. Had they win the game against the Renegades, they could have had a fair chance of making it to the next stage. STA vs HUR, Match 38- Toss Factor

The surface at the MCG have favoured the fielding side in most cases as per the last three BBL matches played here. The team chasing first has won all three matches as the surface aided the batters more after the dusk sets. The pacers get more assistance here but with time the spinners get a decent turn too.

Scenario: If Melbourne Stars field first

The Stars are a good chasing side when their middle order fires. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Beau Webster and Marcus Stoinis bolster their batting and all three have the capability to turn the tide with the bat in hand, provided their bowlers does the rest in the other innings.

Nikhil Chaudhary (HUR): The Indian-bred all-rounder has been making all the rounds through social media after his all-round brilliance in the BBL 13. Chaudhary is a good middle-order batter who can stabilise an innings and accelerate it according to the need. The Punjab-born is also quite handy with the ball in hand.  

Glenn Maxwell (STA): The 'Big Show' is capable of putting up a huge show on his day. The world witnessed his brilliant outburst with the bat against Afghanistan during the World Cup 2023 and it goes without saying that time and again, Maxwell can produce such knocks on his own will. He can also be more than handy with his finger spin.


Scenario: If Hobart Hurricanes field first

Ben McDermott (HUR): The Hurricanes top-order batter just missed out his century a few days back by just a mere single digit number. McDermott is one of the most explosive batters that Hurricanes have in their line-up. He has the ability to play match-winning knocks. 

Beau Webster (STA): The tall all-rounder has been gleaming with his performances since the past couple of years now. Although he is not a captain's go-to-bowler, Webster's height helps him to create wicket-taking opportunities more often than not. Also, he has matured as a sensible batter from the time the management promoted him up the order.

Marcus Stoinis (STA): The Australian all-rounder hasn't been in the best of his form in recent times. However, Stoinis did contribute with the bat and ball in a scattered fashion. He has the ability to take the opposition by storm with his batting capabilities and it won't be surprising if it turns out to be in their last match of the edition. 

Chris Jordan (HUR): The English all-rounder is a brilliant bowler and has the deceptive slower ones that help him flummox the opposition. Jordan can also be more than handy lower down the order as he is capable of using the long handle well.
