Miller's batting brilliance was on full display during the ICC World Cup 2015, where he was one of South Africa's top performers. Scoring 324 runs at an average of 65 and a strike rate of 139, he played several crucial innings, including a valiant 49 off 18 balls in the semi-final against New Zealand. During the tournament, Miller, along with JP Duminy, set the record for the highest fifth-wicket partnership in both ODI and World Cup history.

David Miller's IPL Career

Miller's career in the IPL has been marked by dramatic highs and impactful performances, making him one of the prominent overseas players in the league. His IPL journey began in earnest in 2013 when Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) acquired him for ₹6 crore. That season, Miller played all matches for his team, quickly becoming a key player with his powerful batting.

A defining moment in Miller's IPL career occurred on May 6, 2013, against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mohali. In this match, he produced one of the most memorable innings in IPL history, scoring an unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls. This whirlwind century, the third fastest in the IPL at the time, was a masterclass in aggressive batting and showcased Miller's ability to single-handedly change the course of a game. His innings was so impactful that RCB captain Virat Kohli, acknowledged it as one of the best he had ever seen in the IPL.

Following this spectacular season, Miller was retained by KXIP for the 2014 IPL. He played in all matches that season, contributing significantly to the team's success as they reached the finals. In 2016, Miller's leadership skills were recognized when he was named the captain of KXIP. However, after a challenging start to the season, with the team losing five of their first six games, Miller was replaced as captain by Murali Vijay.

In a significant shift, Miller was released by Punjab ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. He was subsequently picked up by Rajasthan Royals for the 2020 season. His IPL journey took another turn in February 2022 when he was bought by Gujarat Titans in the auction for the 2022 season.
