The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023 on Tuesday at an event in Mumbai. Touted as the largest World Cup ever, the tournament will be held from October 5 to November 19, spread across 46 days and hosted by 10 Indian cities.


World Cup Schedule: ICC release timetable for the marquee event

Ten global cricket powerhouses will vie for the coveted trophy, making it a spectacular display of the sport. The tournament will kick off at the colossal Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which also gets the honour of hosting the final. 

The other host cities include Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Pune. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, along with Hyderabad, have been chosen as venues for ICC World Cup Warm-Up Matches.

The tournament opener will be a replay of the 2019 final with England clashing with New Zealand on October 5 in Ahmedabad. Home team India will jump-start their campaign against five-time World Cup winners, Australia on October 8 in Chennai.

The marquee event will witness ten teams contest for the prestigious title. Eight of these have secured their berths via the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the final two participants will be decided after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe on July 9.

Adopting a round-robin format, each team will play against all the other nine teams, with the top four making it to the semi-finals. The upcoming cricketing extravaganza promises thrilling encounters and an ample dose of action as the ten best teams in the world fight for the ultimate glory in the ODI cricket world.
