Will Pucovski announces indefinite break from cricket

Australian opener Will Jan Pucovski has announced an indefinite break from all formats for cricket. The decision, released through a statement from Cricket Victoria - stated that the youngster is taking a leave due to 'mental well-being.

Pucovski has been plagued with several concussions across his five-year career, apart from a shoulder injury that halted his rise considerably. The Malvern-born has in the past taken sabbaticals due to mental health issues.

Regarded as the next big thing in Australian cricket, Pucovski has played 29 First-Class and 14 List-A matches, scoring 2,341 runs with seven hundred and 10 fifties across both formats.

GM Graham Manou stated that Victorian cricket will continue to support the opener, until his return.

So far, in the current Sheffield Shield season, he has 46 runs from two matches and managed 69 runs in two Marsh Cup games.

His only Test appearance for Australia came against India in 2021, where he scored a half-century.
