In a blow to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), star seamer Mitchell Starc was sidelined from their recent face-off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) due to a finger injury. Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera stepped in to fill his shoes for that crucial clash at Eden Gardens.

However, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for Starc's return in the upcoming match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 29 at the same venue.

Providing an update on Starc's condition, KKR's head coach Chandrakant Pandit revealed, "Starc is looking good. He missed the clash against Punjab Kings as he faced a finger injury in the RCB game, but he’s feeling better now. We’ll watch him in nets now, and he might play against DC tomorrow."

Starc's absence has been felt keenly by KKR, especially considering his hefty price tag of INR 24.75 Crores, making him the most expensive buy in IPL history.

The Australian speedster has struggled to make an impact in the ongoing IPL 2024 campaign, managing to scalp only six wickets in seven matches. His economy rate of 11.48 has raised concerns among the KKR management.
