Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the 2nd ODI against West Indies due to tightness in his upper-right quad. The decision has been described as a precautionary measure looking at his upcoming assignments.

According to the information received, Williamson felt tightness while playing in the 1st ODI against the Men in Maroon which the latter won by five wickets. The right-hander will sit out of the second match and hand over the captaincy duties to vice-captain Tom Latham.

Williamson for quite some time was dealing with his persistent elbow injury which has caused him to miss some important series in the past. It will be interesting to see how the Black Caps cope in the absence of their regular skipper against the Caribbean side.

Kensington Oval in Barbados will host all the matches of the ongoing ODI series, succeeded by the T20 series which New Zealand won by a margin of 2-1.
