In game number 50 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 2.

Heading into their first and only league game clash of 2024, RR finds themselves cruising towards that spot in the first qualifier with 16 points after 8 wins in 9 games, whereas, SRH who sit fifth on the points table can make this their 6th win of the season and potentially go to number 2 on the table.

When SRH Met RR In IPL 2023

One of the most nail-biting finishes to a game in the last season came in this match with lots of drama in this epic last-ball thriller.

Sanju Samson, after winning the crucial toss, decided to come and bat first and owing to Jos Buttler's 95 (55), Samson's 66*(38) and Yashasvi Jaiswal's quick-fire 35 off 18 upfront, the Royals posted a healthy total of 214/2 on the board.

Despite no such stand-out performances with the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen scalped a wicket each and both conceded 44 runs each from their 4 overs. Economically, Abhishek Sharma was their best bowler who just conceded 15 in his two overs.

In the response, Abhishek Sharma with his 55 (34) and Rahul Tripathi's 47(29) laid a foundation for the chase with others playing around them. Glenn Phillips came to bat in the 16th over and turned the game around with his 25 from 7 when the required rate was over 20, however, falling short of finishing off the game.

A close fought encounter ends with SRH win

Going into the final over of the game, RR looked in the pole position with Abdul Samad and Jansen having only faced a ball each and 17 runs required. Sandeep Sharma conceded 12 in the first 5 balls before some drama unfolded.

With 5 needed on the last ball, Sharma almost nailed the yorker to dismiss Samad which unfortunately turned out that he overstepped. Samad didn't miss the second chance and hit it over the bowler's head for a six and SRH won the game by 4-wickets and Phillips was rewarded as the Player of The Match.
