Rohit Sharma, holding the record for the most appearances for Mumbai Indians, has reached the milestone of 200 matches for the franchise. Sachin Tendulkar, an iconic figure for Mumbai Indians, presented Rohit with a special jersey as a mark of honour. 

Notably, Rohit joins MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli as the only players to achieve this feat of playing 200 games for a single franchise.

Rohit Sharma began his IPL journey with the Deccan Chargers for the initial seasons, while Mumbai Indians faced challenges in making a mark during the initial seasons of the league. 

However, in 2011, Mumbai Indians acquired Rohit Sharma through the auction, marking a turning point for both the player and the franchise. 

Since then, Rohit Sharma has been the epitome of Mumbai Indians' identity. Today he completed 200 games for the Mumbai Indians.

In the 2013 IPL season, Ricky Ponting was the captain of Mumbai Indians. But during the season, he passed on the captaincy to Rohit Sharma. 

This turned out to be a game-changer, as Mumbai Indians won their first IPL title that year by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final. 

After that, they won the championship again in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Rohit also led the team to victory in the Champions League in 2013.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest number of runs scored for Mumbai Indians, tallying up 5084 runs at a strike rate of 129.86. 

In the current IPL season, Rohit began positively with the bat, scoring 43 runs from 29 balls against Gujarat Titans. However, despite his efforts, Mumbai Indians couldn't secure a victory in that match.

With Pandya taking charge as captain, Rohit can focus solely on his batting without the added pressure of captaincy responsibilities. This setup allows Rohit to mentally prepare himself for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
