In the Indian Premier League (IPL), in match No. 34 between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings on April 19, 2024, LSG captain KL Rahul showed a respectful gesture for MS Dhoni.

The love, respect and admiration that MS Dhoni has earned as a player are beyond words to describe. His craze and fan following as a global icon is unrealistic. After winning the match by 8 wickets, KL Rahul removed his cap before shaking hands with MS Dhoni as the teams were lined up to shake hands after the match ended. 

KL Rahul Removes His Cap Before Shaking Hands With MS Dhoni

In a video that went viral on the internet in no time, KL Rahul was seen removing his cap before shaking hands with MS Dhoni as a sign of respect and admiration for the legend. 

This gesture of the LSG captain stood out because he had shaken hands with other players as well but he removed his cap only at the time he had shaken hands with the former CSK captain. 

This gesture highlights the respect and love MS Doni has earned throughout his cricketing career not only among his fans and cricket lovers but also among the other players and teammates.

Earlier in the match, LSG won the toss and decided to bowl first putting up a disciplined display of bowling attack and restricting CSK's total to 176/6. Despite Ravindra Jadeja's prowess batting, scoring 57 runs off 40 balls the highlight of the match was the cameo from none other than MS Dhoni who smashed 28 runs off a mere 9 balls. 

In return, LSG openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Knock provided a much more crucial partnership. The LSG captain played an explosive knock of 82 runs off 53 balls. 

After displaying an overall performance of excellence and winning the match against CSK, Lucknow is placed in the 5th position in the points table winning four out of 7 matches. 

CSK is currently placed in the third position of the IPL points table with 8 points.
