India and Afghanistan will lock horns in their maiden T20I series when they clash in the first encounter at Mohali this evening. The series sees the return of Rohit Sharma as T20I captain, while for Afghanistan World Cup 2023, star-batter Ibrahim Zadran will don the role of skipper's hat.

For India, Virat Kohli will miss the first encounter, while Afghan ace-spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the three-match series.

On the eve of the Mohali T20I, Team India players braved chilly and cold conditions during their net session at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, which is being affected by a cold-wave in the north.

In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Instagram, players such as Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh, and Shivam Dube could be heard discussing the cold.

While Patel, Varma, Sundar, and Bishnoi talked about weather conditions in their respective hometowns, Yadav provided insight into his difficulties faced as a bowler in such a climate. Head coach Rahul Dravid also made a guest appearance and talked about the change in temperature, coming straight from Bangalore.

The players will be challenged with visibility troubles given fog and smog during the course of the match, where the Afghanistan team would find it seemingly easier than India, haven been accustomed to more harsh winters back home.
