Cheteshwar Pujara was the first among all Indian players to arrive in England for the imminent World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. The cricketer touched base in Hove to join the Sussex camp for County Championship Division Two matches.

After leading the club in six matches, the batting barnacle has accustomed himself to the English conditions as he gears up to face the Australian bowlers in the WTC summit clash.

Meanwhile, the rest of Pujara’s Indian teammates soon joined him following the conclusion of the IPL 2023 season. On June 1, the cricketer was seen walking out to join his colleagues for a training session.

Cheteshwar Pujara was recently seen walking out on the field to join his teammates for a training camp. Players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj and others have already been grinding out on the nets, as evidenced by a video circulating on social media.

Pujara is one of the vital cogs in the Indian batting line-up, who regained his lost touch with the bat to some extent while playing for Sussex. The right-hander plundered three centuries and a half-century for his side across six matches, before joining the Indian camp for the WTC final.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has issued a stern warning to Pat Cummins and co. regarding Pujara’s threat. The legendary skipper praised the Indian veteran alongside his teammate Virat Kohli, and claimed that the two can make life difficult for the Australian bowlers.

While speaking on The ICC Review, Ponting said:

"Cheteshwar Pujara has been a thorn in their side a lot in the past, and in Australia, and this wicket will potentially be a lot more like an Australian pitch. They also know that Virat Kohli over the last few weeks is probably just about back to his absolute best."

The WTC final is set to commence on June 7 at The Oval in London. The match culminates the two-year championship that launched in 2021.
