Babar Azam relinquished PPakistan's captaincy across all formats following his side’s crashing first-round exit at the 2023 World Cup in India. Apart from his leadership, Babar’s lackluster returns with the bat in the tournament also drew much criticism from all quarters of the Pakistani cricketing spectrum.

After taking some time off the field upon returning to his country, the 29-year-old recently took to nets for a training session as he braces himself for Pakistan’s all-important three-match Test tour of Australia in December.

Following Pakistan’s disastrous tournament campaign in India, Babar Azam returned to the nets to prepare for his team’s three-match Test tour of Australia. The batting maverick seemingly looked in great touch during his optional training session at a playing camp.

Babar Azam managed to score 320 runs at a below-par average of 40 across nine World Cup 2023 innings in India. As a captain, he led his side to two emphatic wins upfront before the ‘Men in Green’ slumped to four successive defeats in the tournament.

Pakistan’s crashing exit from the semifinals race subsequently prompted him to relinquish captaincy from all formats. The cricketer has now been selected in an 18-player Pakistan squad for a three-match Test series in Australia, set to commence on December 14 at the iconic Perth Stadium.
