Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler Avesh Khan was at the other end of the crease when opener Jos Buttler notched up the winning runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. 

Batting at number 10 and arriving to the middle at 186-8, Avesh formed forces with Buttler when the Rajasthan Royals still required another 38 runs from the remaining 15 deliveries.

As it turned out, Buttler ticked off all the required runs on his own without letting the KKR bowlers have a crack at his tail-end partner. 

Regardless of the scale of Avesh Khan’s contribution [0 (0)], the Rajasthan Royals group jokingly celebrated the run-chase heroics of their esteemed ‘finisher’, as he was greeted with a cheerful round-of-applause from all his colleagues at the team hotel.

Just a couple of hours after Rajasthan Royals pulled off a sensational heist against KKR in Kolkata, visiting fast bowler Avesh Khan was jokingly greeted with a warm reception at the team hotel for his ‘run-chase heroics’.

Khan, who did not face a single delivery and merely assisted centurion Jos Buttler from the other end, received a hero’s welcome from teammates and a congratulatory hug from Shimron Hetmyer.


Notably, this is not the first instance where an Avesh Khan’s ‘run-chase masterclass’ was overtly and mockingly celebrated by his IPL franchise. 

Back in 2023, when Avesh was part of the LSG group, he passionately threw his helmet after completing a bye against RCB at Bengaluru in the deciding ball of the match.

He along with the rest of his Rajasthan Royals teammates will now face Mumbai Indians in match number 38 of the IPL 2024 season on April 22 at Jaipur.
