One of the major issues that dented Pakistan's campaign at the Asia Cup 2022 was Shaheen Afridi's absence. The young pacer was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a knee injury following which he travelled to the United Kingdom for his treatment. Shaheen has been named in the squad that will be travelling to Australia in October for the T20I World Cup.

Fans will be praying that the pacer recovers soon because Shaheen has been Pakistan's prime weapon in both powerplay and the death overs. Shaheen will be looking to conquer the demons of the last edition as it was the three sixes off his bowling by Matthew Wade that knocked Pakistan out of the tournament.

"I'm still shocked about it": Wasim Akram

However, certain details about the 22 year old's rehabilitation has stirred up a controversy. Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan skipper speaking to Samaa TV on Thursday, revealed that Shaheen has gone to London on his own and spent his own money for accommodation and that PCB did not offer any help in the process.

This has raised a lot of eyebrows with legendary pacer Wasim Akram reacting to the same. He is of the opinion that the PCB's treatment of Shaheen's rehabilitation was really unfair and that the board should have provided the youngster with the best treatment.

“This is very shocking. He is one of our top bowlers...he is box-office. Who is going to look after him if not us. He should have been straightaway sent to the best knee surgeon in the world. But he's doing all this on his own...as I said I'm still shocked about it,” he said.
