In a reassuring turn of events for Australian cricket fans, star opener Usman Khawaja has been given the green light to play in the upcoming second Test against the West Indies in Brisbane.

The 37-year-old batter faced a moment of concern during the final day of the opening Test in Adelaide when he was struck on the helmet by a fiery delivery from West Indies' Shamar Joseph. The blow drew blood, prompting Khawaja to retire hurt in the final overs of Australia's dominating 10-wicket victory.

Khawaja underwent initial concussion protocols, passing them successfully, but concerns lingered as he left the playing arena spitting blood and examining his upper jaw and cheekbone.

The determined opener returned to training last Tuesday, displaying no symptoms of delayed concussion.

"Khawaja was assessed again today and has no symptoms of delayed concussion," a spokesperson for Cricket Australia confirmed. Tomorrow, he'll train at the Gabba."

The incident occurred during the second innings when Australia needed to chase down a mere 26 runs to clinch the series opener. Shamar Joseph unleashed a rapid 138 kph bouncer, catching Khawaja on the helmet as he attempted to evade the line of the ball.

The paceman's delivery drew blood, raising concerns about the veteran's well-being.

With Khawaja's clearance, Australia will likely maintain the same playing XI for the second Test.

The pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, set to make their first Test appearance together this season, poses a formidable threat.

As Australia gear up for the second Test starting Thursday, the return of Khawaja adds strength to their batting lineup, providing a boost as they aim for a series victory against the West Indies.
