RCB legend Virat Kohli blazed his way to yet another IPL century, this time pounding the Rajasthan Royals bowlers at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at Jaipur in match number 19 of the 2024 season. The legendary batter ended up drilling 113 unbeaten runs off 72 balls, as RCB surged to 183-3 by the completion of their 20 overs.

Taking apart the likes of Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin; Virat Kohli took a special liking to Avesh Khan, as he flogged the Rajasthan Royals speedster for 39 off those runs from just 17 deliveries.

Even though a rampant Kohli tonked his way to an imperial century, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson surprisingly handed the final over of the innings to a struggling Avesh Khan, at a time when death-overs veteran Trent Boult still had six deliveries left in his sleeve.

A raging Virat Kohli shaped a 67-ball ton by the penultimate over of the RCB innings at Jaipur on April 6. Interestingly, the well-set centurion faced Avesh Khan in the final over, considering Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson handed him the ball despite Trent Boult’s unfinished spell at the time.

Kohli made the most of his opportunity as he further piled on Avesh Khan’s pain, feeding off three boundaries in the final over to race to 113* off 72 balls. Overall, the RCB opener ended up accumulating 39 off his runs against Avesh alone.

After the RCB innings, several Rajasthan Royals fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and fumed over Sanju Samson’s decision of throwing the ball to Avesh Khan instead of slog-overs specialist Trent Boult. Here is a look at some of the fans expressing their rage over Samson on social media:

Regardless, Virat Kohli’s innings marked his eighth IPL hundred and the third in his last seven appearances for RCB. Opening partner and captain Faf du Plessis also listed 44 at the top during his 125-run stand with Kohli.
