Tilak Varma's rise in the world of cricket has been quite swift in the last couple of years. The young man from Hyderabad has impressed one and all with his temperament and consistency and is touted as the 'next big thing' in the Indian cricket.

Tilak made his debut for India in ODI and T20I format and seems to be on mission to get his Test cap soon. He is the captain of Hyderabad for Ranji Trophy 2024 and has started his stint with a bang. He smashed an unbeaten 100 off 112 balls with Hyderabad scoring 474 in their first innings before declaring in the 77th over against a clueless Nagaland bowling attack.

Tilak Varma came in at number 4 and continued with the foundation that was laid by a brilliant stand between Tanmay Agarwal and Gahlaut Rahul Singh. Tanmay scored 80 but Rahul Singh was in belligerent mood as he smashed 214 off 157 balls with 23 fours and 9 sixes. Tilak recently played for India A against South Africa A and seems to be getting into his groove in red-ball cricket too.

India's squad for Afghanistan T20Is is all set to be announced soon, and Tilak Varma is likely to retain his place in the squad after some impact performances in Indian Blue in 2023.
