Shubman Gill Wants To Learn 'These Things' From Messi, Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli

One of India's rising stars, Shubman Gill having stamped his batting class in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year for Gujarat Titans (GT), will lead the same franchise in the upcoming 2024 season.

With former skipper Hardik Pandya traded off to Mumbai Indians (MI), Gill will take on the role of a skipper for the first time in his career across any format or age-group level. 

Gill, who has already expressed his excitement about donning the new hat, has revealed qualities he looks up to from his favourite leaders — Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Football legend Lionel Messi.

While speaking to GT website, the 23-year-old listed down differentials about Sharma, Kohli and Messi, which make all these three players inspirational leaders. 


Here's what Shubman Gill said

Gill On Sharma  - "Gives all the freedom to the players."

Gill On Kohli - "Likes to lead from the front, shows the way to lead."

Gill On Messi - "Creates magic, always look for a small opportunity to help the team to be first."

Sharma led India from the front as a batter and a leader in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World, while Kohli during as captain took Indian cricket to greater heights winning Test series in Australia, and keeping Team India as No.1 ranked Test side for several years.

Under Messi, Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, their third title, and first after 1986.
