Team India discard Shikhar Dhawan seems to be making the most of his off-field time by enjoying the 2023 World Cup within the confinement of his home. The dashing opening batsman, once a cogent force for India in ICC events, has not played a single international for his team since December 2022.

Dhawan recently took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself watching India’s high-profile World Cup 2023 clash against Australia on his TV. The cricketer also added a motivational and uplifting message for the ‘Men in Blue’ as they aim to seek an early advantage in the competition.

Notably, Shikhar Dhawan emerged as India’s ‘Player of the Match’ the last time they went up against the Australians at a World Cup. The left-hander bludgeoned a scintillating 117 at the top for the ‘Men in Blue’ back in their 2019 World Cup meeting, which Team India ended up winning by 36 runs at The Oval in London.

In the meantime, the Indian bowlers dismantled the Australians for just 199 upfront at a turning Chepauk surface in Chennai. The match, marking the opening 2023 World Cup contest for both sides, saw the hosts lose out their top three batters for just two on the board in response.
