Ahead of the 1st T20I between India and Australia, fans are speculating on Sanju Samson’s poor fitness. A viral picture has critics wondering if the wicket-keeper has put on weight.

Samson is back in the T20I setup after a remarkable 2024 year where he scored 436 runs, including 3 centuries, all as an opener.

However, with Shubman Gill’s entry as vice-captain, the wicket-keeper batter has been pushed down to no. 5.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson flew down to Canberra to feature in the 5-game T20I series against Australia starting from October 29.

Ahead of the game, the team held a practice session to find its rhythm. However, during the session, a picture of Samson and Rinku Singh went viral on social media.

The picture is clicked at such an angle that it shows Samson in a more bulky posture than before.

Fans were quick to speculate on his fitness, suggesting the wicket-keeper has gained weight.

However, it's important to note that all players, including Sanju Samson, have cleared the fitness test before the tour, as it's a mandatory selection criteria.

Will Sanju Samson play the 1st T20I vs Australia?

With Hardik Pandya injured, Shivam Dube is expected to handle the all-round duties in the 1st T20I against Australia.

The top order picks itself with Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma, while Sanju Samson is likely to continue as wicket-keeper ahead of Jitesh Sharma.

Kuldeep Yadav, the Asia Cup’s leading wicket-taker, should lead the spin attack alongside Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy. Jasprit Bumrah spearheads the pace unit, with either Nitish Kumar Reddy or Arshdeep Singh completing India’s probable XI.
