No Rinku Singh; Rohit To Have Hardik As Vice-Captain In India's T20 World Cup Squad 2024

Rohit Sharma will have Hardik Pandya as his deputy when they play T20 World Cup 2024 after the ongoing IPL. On the other hand, there won't have Rinku Singh in the main squad, which, needless to say, becomes quite a surprising call by the BCCI.

Among other things, Rohit will have both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the main squad, which suggests that Kohli may play as No. 3, with Rohit opening with Jaiswal. 

Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 batsman in the ICC Rankings, is expected to bat at No. 4.

In another surprising turn of events, Yuzvendra Chahal, the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is, is back in the Men in Blue. The veteran spinner is yet to play a T20I game for India at ICC events, and safe to say, it was a well-deserved opportunity for the leggie, who has been reaping rewards in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals.

Among wicket-keepers, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been preferred, which means there is no place for KL Rahul and Jitesh Sharma in the main squad.

Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will partner Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department, whereas Kuldeep Yadav will be Chahal’s partner once again in the showpiece event.

Surprisingly, India will have both Shivam Dube and Hardik as their fast-bowling all-rounders, while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will be their spin-bowling all-rounders. Rinku, Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, meanwhile, will be India’s traveling reserves.
