India's star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, missed the second ODI match against Australia, which hosts won comprehensively by 99 runs via the DLS method, as he took leave to visit his family.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, recently welcomed their baby boy during the Asia Cup 2023, when Bumrah flew back to India from Sri Lanka for the same.
Bumrah's absence from the lineup was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) just hours before the match was set to kick off in Indore.
Meanwhile, Bumrah's decision to take leave did not find favour among Indian fans, who vented their frustration on X [Formerly Twitter]. Here’s how they reacted:
Bumrah was in action for the series opener against Australia in Mohali, and while he only notched up one wicket, it doesn't do justice to how incredible he was, keeping it tight and making the Aussies sweat, ultimately helping India bowl them out for 276 runs.
With wins in both of the first two ODIs against Australia, India now enjoys an unassailable -0 lead in the three-game series. The third and final ODI is slated for September 27 in Rajkot, where key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav will return to the team.
