Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL champions have included English pacer Luke Wood as replacement for injured Jason Behrendorff ahead of IPL 2024. He has played five T20Is and 2 ODIs for England and recently had a successful stint for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2024.

Luke Wood is a left-arm pacer and has been bought for 50 Lakhs as a like-to-like replacement for the Aussie Jason Behrendorff who has done decently for MI in IPL 2023 with 19 wickets in 17 matches.

However, MI have made a smart choice by bringing in Luke Wood as he can be sharp with his pace and bounce and is handy both with the new ball and at the death.

The left-arm pacer picked up 12 wickets in 11 innings in PSL 2024 and can be handy in Wankhede where he will get good pace and carry off the deck. Also, with concerns over the fitness of another left-arm pacer, Dilshan Madushanka, Luke Wood might well make his IPL debut in the 2024 edition.

Mumbai Indians will kickstart their IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans on 24th of March at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Hardik Pandya will lead MI for the first time against his former franchise and with all-round arsenal at their disposal, they look well-poised for another successful IPL campaign.
