In a historic moment for the Indian Premier League (IPL), South African twins Duan Jansen and Marco Jansen made history as the first-ever twin pair to feature in the cash-rich league. Over the years, the IPL has seen several sibling pairs, but none have been twins, making this a truly unique occurrence.

The cash-rich league has witnessed some noteworthy sibling pairs, including the likes of Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan, Albie Morkel and Morne Morkel, Michael Hussey and David Hussey, Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Marsh, Brendon McCullum and Nathan McCullum, Dwayne Bravo and Darren Bravo, Siddarth Kaul and Uday Kaul, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya, and Sam Curran and Tom Curran.

However, the Jansen brothers have now etched their names in IPL history as the first twin pair to grace the league. Duan Jansen made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, while Marco Jansen has been playing for SunRisers Hyderabad in the league so far.

Although Duan Jansen's debut was forgettable as he conceded 53 runs in his four-over spell and managed to take only one wicket, his twin brother, Marco Jansen, has been impressive for Sunrisers Hyderabad, bagging four wickets in his two appearances in IPL 2023 so far.

The twins' entry into the IPL has brought fresh excitement to the league, with fans eager to see them showcase their skills on the grand stage. While some sibling pairs have called time on their cricketing careers, others like the Pandya brothers, Sam Curran, and Mitchell Marsh continue to entertain audiences with their performances in the league.

As the league progresses, all eyes will be on the Jansen twins to see if they can create a lasting impression. The duo will be up against each other on Tuesday, April 18 as Mumbai Indians are set to lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 25 of IPL 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
