Jasprit Bumrah-Led India To Travel Without VVS Laxman On Ireland Tour

The Indian team is gearing up for the three-match T20I series against Ireland in their backyard. The Men in Blue are set to take the flight to Dublin on August 15, however, some unexpected changes in the team's coaching line-up for this tour have made headlines and heightened the anticipation.

Jasprit Bumrah will head to Ireland without VVS Laxman

In a significant development, it has come to the fore that VVS Laxman, who was widely tipped to be at the coaching helm due to Rahul Dravid and his team's commitments in the US for the bilateral series against the West Indies, will not be making the trip to Ireland.

The cricketing circuit is abuzz with speculation, though official reasons remain undisclosed. Filling the coaching void are Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule, who will be a part of the support staff. Both bring a wealth of experience and will be vital in guiding the young team.

The notable aspect of this series is the return of pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who will be donning the captain's hat. Bumrah's return to competitive cricket has been eagerly awaited by fans and pundits alike since his hiatus that began in September 2022.

The cricketing community will be keen to gauge his performance and fitness, especially after his back surgery in February. Bumrah is deemed crucial to India's future cricketing ventures, particularly the upcoming World Cup 2023.

The Indian contingent will gather in Dublin in two phases. One group that is currently engaged in the last two T20Is in Miami against West Indies will head straight to Ireland. Meanwhile, Bumrah, along with other members, will depart from Mumbai early Tuesday.

The three T20Is will be played on August 18, 20 & 23, all at The Village in Dublin.
