The right-arm fast bowler Sam Cook is enjoying a purple patch in the gentlemen’s game. The 25-year-old played the lead role in Trent Rockets' victory against Manchester Originals in the final of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2022. Cook picked four wickets including the likes of Laurie Evans, Wayne Madsen, Tom Lammonby, and Richard Gleeson.

His heroics with the bat restricted the Originals to an underwhelming score of 120 runs in the first innings. After winning the 100-ball tournament for Trent Rockets, Cook is eyeing a spot in the England cricket team. Speaking about his international aspirations, the seamer added that he wants to represent England across all formats.

Cook said as quoted by PlanetSport:

"It's something I've definitely got aspirations for. I want to play every format I possibly can. I'm just trying to improve every area I can: red-ball bowling, white-ball bowling, batting. I try and get better every training session.”

Cook reflects on his winning performance for Trent Rockets

Recently, Sam was called up to the England Lions' squad for a four-day match against South Africa. The seamer did well in the game as he picked a solitary wicket of Khaya Zondo at an economy rate of 2.57. The selection to the Lions’ side acted as a morale booster for the youngster.

Further in the interaction, the 25-year-old also reflected on his match-winning performance for the Trent Rockets in the final. Cook believes that it is tough for the bowlers to deliver performances like these.

"This has been one of those nights you don't forget. It's high-risk, high-reward as a bowler. On nights like tonight, you have to savour it as a bowler because they don't come around too often in this format. It's still not quite sunk in yet, but this has been an amazing tournament to be part of, and finishing on the winning side is really special.”
