IPL 2022 | Delhi Capitals-Punjab Kings match shifted from Pune to Mumbai

The base for the match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) scheduled on Wednesday has shifted from Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The decision is made in the wake of recent cases found in the camp of the Delhi Capitals.

Although the clearance for this match depends on a fresh series of COVID tests, which are to be done on Wednesday morning.

The DCs suffered a defeat at the hands of RCB in their recent outing at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai. They were scheduled to travel to Pune for their game against PBKS. However, the team was isolated in their Mumbai hotel the same day they were supposed to leave as their physio Patrick Farhat returned COVID positive.

The situation grew tense as more members from the camp tested positive on Monday morning, and one of them was Mitchel Marsh, who developed a slight fever. Finally, after a day full of speculations, the Australian was admitted to the hospital as he was the sole player to develop symptoms.

According to the recent IPL Media Advisory issued, Sports Massage Therapist Chetan Sharma tested positive on April 16. Meanwhile, Team Doctor Abhijit Salvi and Social Media content member Akash Mane tested positive on Monday, along with Marsh.

The decision to shift the venue has been taken to ensure a bubble-friendly tournament as the safety of players remains a paramount priority.

Both Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are looking for a win. Punjab is placed 7th on the table, followed by Delhi, who are 8th on the standings with a game in hand.

The Capitals have managed to win two out of their five games and will be looking to play the way they did last season. On the other hand, Punjab Kings have played six and won 3 and will be looking to go past KKR with a win against DC.

While the availability of players is unclear in DC’s camp, PBKS also have to look after Mayank Aggarwal’s availability for the match.
