New Zealand Test skipper Tim Southee has raised doubts about his captaincy in Asian conditions following the team's recent loss to Australia. After suffering a disappointing 3-wicket defeat in the second Test, Southee expressed uncertainty about leading the team during their upcoming tours to Asia.

Despite being in a commanding position during the second Test against Australia, New Zealand faltered and succumbed to a narrow loss, extending their wait to secure a series victory against the ICC World Test Championship winners.

Southee's performance in the match was below par, managing to claim only two wickets. As the senior pacer and skipper, much was expected of him to lead the bowling attack and secure early breakthroughs to help the team level the series.

With upcoming assignments against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and India, Southee faces a significant challenge, particularly in Asian conditions where fast bowlers traditionally play a lesser role. Reflecting on his previous experience leading the team in Bangladesh, Southee acknowledged the limited impact of pacers in such conditions.

Southee indicated that he would decide on his captaincy in Asian conditions closer to the India tour. Meanwhile, Kane Williamson could potentially step in as captain in his absence.

However, Southee remains focused on addressing areas of improvement following the series loss to Australia before making any decisions regarding his captaincy role in the upcoming tours.
