On Sunday, September 14, India will lock horns against Pakistan in the sixth match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. The two teams will lock horns for the first time since the Champions Trophy in March 2025.
Also, the upcoming T20I game will be the first match for India against Pakistan since Operation Sindoor. Ahead of the clash between the two heavyweights, a boycott campaign has taken over the internet as fans within the country are angry with the BCCI for agreeing to play against Pakistan despite the recent killings in Kashmir.
BCCI Officials Unlikely To Attend India-Pakistan Match
The anger is growing with every passing hour as '#BoycottAsiaCup' is all over social media platforms. In the latest events, there is a report from Dainik Jagran that the BCCI officials have decided to skip attending the Indo-Pak game in Dubai.
It is reported that Secretary Devajit Saikia, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia, and joint secretary Rohan Desai are the other office BCCI bearers who were there for the India-Pakistan match during the Champions Trophy, and are likely to stay back in India for this match, which will be like an invisible boycott.
"We agreed to the match after getting permission from the government. If we come on camera during the match, then attempts would be made to create an atmosphere against us," the newspaper quoted the BCCI official.
Why Will Only Rajiv Shukla Attend Indo-Pak match?
Meanwhile, a latest report from the Mint stated that BCCI's acting president Rajiv Shukla will be the only official from the apex cricket board of India. It added that Shukla will be there to attend the India-Pakistan match because he is also part of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which is why it would be his compulsion to be present there in the stadium.
Notably, in March 2025, Shukla was appointed as the BCCI's executive member on the ACC board.
