James Anderson becomes the highest wicket-taking pacer across formats

In a remarkable turn of events, legendary England seamer James Anderson has become the highest wicket-taking pace bowler across formats.

Anderson achieved this phenomenal feat during South Africa's second innings of the ongoing Test match at Old Trafford. The 40-year-old fast bowler played a crucial role in dismantling the Proteas' batting lineup, dismissing skipper Dean Elgar and Simon Harmer. While Elgar was cleaned up by a peach of a delivery, Harmer had the same fate as his stumps were knocked away.

With his 950th wicket, Anderson surpassed Australian stalwart Glenn McGrath's tally of 949 wickets to record the most number of dismissals as a fast bowler in the history of cricket.

Anderson, who made his international debut way back in 2002, is still going strong. The way he has kept himself fit to steam in and question the batters with the thunderbolts is simply exemplary.

Talking about the match, England have tightened their grip in the game as they look determined to level the series. As of writing, the Proteas are reeling at 179/9, still trailing to England's first innings total by 85 runs with a single wicket in hand.
