Deepti Sharma Jumps To Number Two On ICC T20I Rankings For Bowlers

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma jumped to number two on the latest ICC T20I rankings for bowlers. Jointly holding the position alongside Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal, the two cricketers are only trailing behind young English star Sophie Ecclestone.

Sharma also occupies the number four slot on the ICC T20I rankings for all-rounders. Being India’s only representative in the top 10 list, the next highest-ranking Indian cricketer to feature on the ICC standings for all-rounders is Pooja Vastrakar placed at a distant number 33.

Deepti Sharma firmly ranked number two on ICC charts

Deepti Sharma rose to number two position on the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers owing to her splendid run against Australia in India’s home T20I series. The 26-year-old cricketer snapped up five wickets across three games, subsequently setting up path to jump to 718 rating points on the latest ICC charts.

Her teammate Renuka Singh, meanwhile, gained a rung to jump among the top 10 ranked T20I bowlers of the world. The speedster, placed at number 10, is the only other Indian bowler to feature in the ICC top 10 rankings for T20I bowlers.

Apart from gaining big in the bowling department, Sharma also retained her fourth spot on the ICC T20I rankings for all-rounders. As of now, she is only trailing West Indies’ Hayley Matthews, New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr and Australia’s World Cup winner Ashleigh Gardner in the top 10 rankings.

Earlier in January, Deepti Sharma won the 'ICC Women’ Player of the Month' for her splendid all-round show against England and Australia at home throughout December 2023. She was also placed in ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2023, thus becoming the only Indian cricketer to appear in the prestigious annual honor.
