The cricketing world came to a standstill after star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved in a horrific car accident back on December 30, 2022. The cricketer, travelling to his native town on New Year’s Eve, accidentally had his car collided into a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, flipping multiple times before it burst into flames.

Fortunately for the entire sporting spectrum, Pant survived his near-fatal car crash, however, the numerous injuries he sustained during his ordeal kept him of cricketing action for the subsequent 12 months.

Exactly a year after the accident, as Pant continues to make steady progress on his road towards full recovery, the Delhi Capitals IPL franchise shared a heartfelt tribute video chronicling his entire journey throughout the last 12-month period.

Capitals share tribute on Pant’s ordeal and recovery

On December 30, 2023; i.e., a year after Rishabh Pant’s horrific car accident, the Delhi Capitals franchise chronicled the cricketer’s entire ordeal and his subsequent recovery from the past 12 months by sharing a five-minute video on their social media accounts.

The video features interviews from Pant, his teammate Axar Patel as well as from Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting. The franchise also recalled his entire recovery progress, and shared snippets from his surprise visit to the Arun Jaitley Stadium during a Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2023 game.

Rishabh Pant, who was set to lead the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023 season, was replaced by Australian-based opening batsman David Warner owing to his extensive absence from competitive cricket.

As it turns out, the dashing wicketkeeper is all set to make his return to Delhi Capitals setup for the forthcoming IPL 2024 season. He was recently retained by the franchise, and was in attendance at the IPL 2024 auction in UAE on December 19.
