Former Indian cricketer and CSK legend Suresh Raina punched out a majestic 35-ball 50* against New York Superstar Strikers in match number six of the ongoing Legends Cricket Trophy 2024 season.

Leading Delhi Devils at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the legendary left-hander received little-to-no assistance from the rest of the batting line-up, as his team slumped to their second successive defeat of the tournament.

Prior to the match, Delhi Devils captain Suresh Raina won the toss and opted to field first. New York Superstar Strikers, led by Raina’s former teammate and 2011 World Cup-winning batchmate Yuvraj Singh, shaped up a monumental 185-6 off their allotted 15 overs.

Chasing 186 to secure their first win of the tournament, the Delhi Devils top-order was jolted early with both openers making their way back to the sheds courtesy of Isuru Udana’s new-ball brilliance.

Batting at number four and arriving to the crease at 14-2 in just the third over of the innings, Raina waged a remarkable one-man show with his trademark counterattacking diligence, featuring 50 alluring runs off just 35 balls.

Receiving little-to-no assistance from the rest of his teammates, Raina’s top-scoring effort was laced with five boundaries and a couple of elegant maximums as Delhi Devils raced to 135-5 at the end of their innings.

Regardless of his efforts, the Devils fell 50 runs short of their target to register their second successive defeat of the tournament.

Suresh Raina-led Delhi Devils will now face Punjab Royals in match number 10 of the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024 season on March 13. The much-awaited contest will also be staged at the iconic Pallekele venue.
