Chris Jordan, the veteran English pacer has been drafted into the England T20I squad for the 4-match T20I series in place of Josh Tongue who is ruled out with pectoral injury.  Jordan who was initially not selected in the squad has been brought back after the pacer displayed great form both with the ball and bat in The Hundred 2023.

England are the current T20 World Champions and according to their skipper Jos Buttler, they are looking at this T20I series against the Kiwis as a platform to increase their bowling pool. It was the reason behind non-selection of Jordan and Tymal Mills earlier, who have been brilliant in The Hundred.

Josh Tongue has played two Test matches for England and was in line to make his T20I debut against the Kiwis. He will have to wait a bit longer now and is also ruled out of the Hundred Eliminator to be played between Manchester Originals and Southern Brave.

The T20I series between England and New Zealand is an important series for both the teams as they prepare for the next T20 World Cup in 2024. England have drafted in Gus Atkinson as well who has impressed with his pace and accuracy in recent times. Buttler is leading the side and Rehan Ahmed, the young all-rounder has also been selected in the squad. The big guns like Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone are also back in the mix and it promises to be a cracking series between two quality teams.
